Amsted Design-Build is looking for an experienced Residential Construction Technician to join our team.

Our Construction Technicians are skilled, hands-on members of our project teams, working on some of Ottawa’s most distinctive renovations, additions, and custom homes. From general carpentry through to detailed finishing work, you’ll have the opportunity to apply a broad range of skills and see the impact of your work throughout various stages of a project.

This role is a strong fit for someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, enjoys variety in their work, and wants to be part of an experienced team that approaches residential construction with a high level of professionalism and care.

What You’ll Do

Working alongside our Project Managers, Construction team, and trade partners, you’ll contribute to the day-to-day execution of our renovation and custom home projects, including:

- Demolition and site preparation
- Footings, framing, and general carpentry
- Trim and finish carpentry
- Installation of doors, windows, cabinetry, and other finishes
- Drywall installation, taping, and finishing
- Caulking, painting touch-ups, and detailed finishing work
- General construction work required throughout different stages of a project

You’ll also play an important role in keeping our projects running safely, professionally, and efficiently by:
- Reading and working from construction drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Communicating regularly with the Project Manager and other members of the project team
- Planning ahead for materials, tools, and upcoming work
- Identifying challenges and helping find practical solutions on site
- Installing dust protection and protecting existing homes and finishes
- Maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and secure jobsite
- Representing Amsted professionally when working in our clients’ homes





What You Bring We’re looking for someone with strong residential construction experience and the versatility to contribute wherever the project needs it.

You should bring

- 5+ years of residential construction experience
- Strong carpentry skills, including framing and finish work
- Experience installing cabinetry, pre-hung doors, windows, and trim
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Confidence using standard construction tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Good organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of residential electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- A positive, professional approach when working with clients, teammates, and trade partners

Hours: 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Friday
