Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Continuous Improvement Manager to lead initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety. Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations focused on safety, quality, productivity, throughput, cost, and efficiency.
- Serve as a key resource to the Director of Operations in executing operational priorities, strategic initiatives, and special projects across all manufacturing locations.
- Partner with Plant Managers to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities while maintaining clear Plant Manager accountability for day-to-day operations.
- Identify improvement opportunities through shop-floor observation, data analysis, KPI review, process mapping, and structured root-cause analysis.
- Drive the development, implementation, standardization, and sustained adoption of SOPs and standard work across Operations.
- Support capacity planning and constraint analysis, including labour utilization, equipment capacity, bottlenecks, workflow, and material flow.
- Champion ERP and shop-floor process discipline to improve data accuracy, process compliance, and operational visibility.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects involving Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, IT, and other departments as required.
- Establish transparent objectives, owners, timelines, deliverables, and measurable outcomes for assigned initiatives and drive them through to completion.
- Identify and quantify opportunities to reduce cost, eliminate waste, improve resource utilization, and increase operational efficiency.
- Coach and support Plant Managers, supervisors, and frontline teams in Lean principles, problem-solving, standard work, and continuous improvement practices.
- Provide regular reporting to the Director of Operations on CI initiatives, project status, operational constraints, realized benefits, risks, and opportunities requiring leadership direction.
Experience
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably metal fabrication, welding, assemby, or similar high-volume/custom maunfuacturing.
- Strong experience implementing, improving, or managing ERP systems such as NetSuite, E2, SAP, Epicor, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing,Kaizen, 5S, value-stream mapping, standard work, waste reduction, and process improvement.
- Proven ability to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, quality issues,
and excessive labor/material costs and develop practical corrective solutions.
- Understands real-world manufacturing operations including welding, fabrication, assembly, material handling, scheduling, quality, and shipping/logistics.
- Ability to develop and manage KPIs such as labor efficiency, throughput, OTD, scrap, rework, utilization, productivity, and cost per unit.
- Strong Excel/data-analysis skills preferred.
- Ability to lead improvement projects from identifying the problem through implementation, training, and verification of results.
- Able to manage multiple projects across different plants.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work with Plant Managers, supervisors, engineering, quality, maintenance, HR, and frontline employees.
- Must be comfortable challenging existing processes and driving change.
- Experience identifying opportunities for automation, digitalization, production tracking, scheduling systems, dashboards, and manufacturing technology.
- Comfortable working with IT and software vendors.
