NOTE: This posting represents a temporary, part-time (17 hours/week) contract until September 17, 2027.

SCOPE

Reporting to Department Administrator, Applied Human Sciences, the incumbent provides professional, administrative and logistical support to the programs with internship and field placements. The incumbent seeks to develop the program through active promotion towards the goal of establishing new placements sites and relationships.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Administer and oversee placements in collaboration with course instructors.
- Receive applications from students for undergraduate internships and graduate placements.
- Assist and facilitate student placement, procurement, and retention, maintaining a database that tracks their placement site and hours, trouble-shooting issues as they arise.
- Respond to both internal and external enquiries about placements and projects, informing sites of program requirements, and determining site suitability for each program in collaboration with faculty.
- Meet regularly with faculty to develop and monitor sites and projects for all internship courses and HR capstone experiences.
- Ensure the quality of the placement experience by overseeing all logistical aspects of the program, that all required forms have been completed prior to the start of the placement, and all legal requirements are met in a timely manner. Collect and store all necessary documents.
- Engage in outreach with new partner organizations as potential sites, devising strategies to expand the number of placements and placement rates for all programs.
- Maintain a current database of placement sites and, in collaboration with faculty, recommend the placement site to remain on the list or its deletion from the list.
- Collaborate with the legal department to ensure internship contracts required by host institutions meet Concordia's standards.
- Create and disseminate informational and promotional documents assuring that the translation of materials related to placements (evaluation forms, introduction letters, Internship Handbook, etc.)



are correct and up to date and maintains the AHSC placement website.
- Interface with the Beat the Odds (BTO) program to support funding for students from equity-deserving groups.
- Respond to requests for internship data from university administration and collaborate with university groups that help coordinate and set policy for internships.
- Develop and facilitate, in collaboration with faculty, the Internship Information Session.
- When appropriate, conduct on-site visits of placement sites.
- Respond to requests from students for attestations regarding the completion of an internship and/or the number of hours completed during an internship. Collaborate with teaching faculty to evaluate the student experience at individual sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree from Applied Human Sciences or similar discipline and two to four years of practitioner’s work experience in the social services sector.
- Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, job search skills and interview techniques.
- Knowledge of occupational /career opportunities in all relevant private, Para public, and non-profit sectors.
- Valuable knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English and French.
- Good knowledge (intermediate level) of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Capacity to network with the private, Para public, and non-profit sectors and academic community and to coach and counsel students as well as partner organizations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Availability to travel in and around Ontario, Quebec, and Montreal.
- Accurate, attentive to details, and having good judgment.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to work outside normal working hours during peak periods.
- Good web design and maintenance and social media skills an asset.
