Location

Our Long Term Care Division will be opening Seaton Village, a brand new 200-bed long term care home in north Pickering in early 2027, and we are building our team from the ground up.
With this expansion, we will be hiring Food Service Aides (FSA) for all locations, with opportunities to join the new home or grow within our existing sites. While most positions are part-time, some full-time positions may also be available. Opportunities are expected to be available at all of the following locations:

- Seaton Village in Pickering - NEW!
- Lakeview Manor in Beaverton
- Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa
- Hillsdale Terraces in Oshawa
- Fairview Lodge in Whitby

Food Service Aide

The incumbent will:

- Perform inventory functions to ensure proper products and adequate supplies are available
- Store supplies in proper location and rotate appropriately in order to use old stock first
- Assist with the panning of food items and ingredient control
- Serve meals to residents by offering choice in food and beverages for all diet types and textures
- Prepare food and beverages as required for outpatients and visitors
- Operate retherm units
- Assist cooks as needed with food preparation, panning and portioning
- Set up and clean kitchen and dining areas as required
- Verify, document and report discrepancies of various temperatures, including food/beverages at point of service, fridges, freezers,



dish and pot wash machines

The successful applicant will possess:

- Partial high school or equivalent
- Completion of or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Certificate or an approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a food services industry as per the Fixing Long Term Care Act and Regulations
- A valid/approved Food Handler's course obtained within the last 5 years
- Relevant food service experience in a health care environment is preferred
- Demonstrated compliance with and knowledge of safe work practices
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions
- The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job

Hours of Work:

Successful candidates must be available to work 8-hour and 4-hour shifts, with start and end times varying based on the operational needs of the home. Shift times may range anywhere between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., depending on the assigned location and schedule. Schedules are developed to support the operational and resident care needs of the home. Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, statutory holidays, and additional shifts as required. Part time staff will be expected to accept additional shifts on an on-call basis as required. Scheduling cannot be coordinated around other employment commitments, personal availability, or individual preferences. We are seeking flexible team members who can reliably support the needs of our residents and organization.

Food Service Aide Salary Information





- The hourly rate range for this position is $28.98 to $30.08.

Conditions of Employment

All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTC Act (O.Reg. 246/22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
