Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent is the Chief Technologist responsible for the administration and technical supervision of one of the five (5) specialized Laboratory Sections of CPL, which includes a varying number of subsections within the specified area.Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for the administration and technical supervision of one of the specialized laboratory sections, ensuring effective delivery of public health laboratory testing services and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.QualificationsMinimum 5 years of recent extensive work experience in specialized public health laboratory medicine within the designated department.Extensive discipline‑related experience in advanced techniques and training sufficient to perform required duties.Minimum 2 years of supervisory and/or administrative experience.Experience with Laboratory Information System; Labware LIMS desired.Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program (CMLTM). Prior Learning Assessment for a discipline specialty preferred.Courses related to supervision, communication, and administration/personnel policies/practices desired.B.Sc. in a related field desired.Current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS) considered an asset.Strong problem‑solving,



analytical, and leadership skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Computer experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).Knowledge of troubleshooting, quality management, CAP accreditation, workplace health and safety, privacy regulations, and public health laboratory functions.Ability to apply technical knowledge to result interpretation, troubleshooting, and method assessment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow instructions, meet multiple deadlines, adapt to changing work environment, and prepare reports and lectures.Excellent managerial/administrative skills.Physical RequirementsWorking shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.Exposure to all hazards and dangers in the laboratory workplace.This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
