Position Title: Dental Assistant

BRIGHT 32 DENTAL is seeking a professional, organized, and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide clinical and administrative support to dentists and hygienists, assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintain treatment rooms and equipment, and contribute to an effective and positive patient experience.
The Dental
Assistant is expected to perform duties in accordance with applicable provincial regulations, professional standards, workplace health and safety requirements, infection prevention and control protocols, and clinic policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties -
*Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, equipment, and materials required for patient procedures.
- Assist dentists during examinations, restorative, surgical, orthodontic, and other dental procedures.
- Maintain clear visibility and access for the dentist through effective chairside assistance and suctioning.
- Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with applicable regulations and certifications.
- Prepare dental materials, cements, impression materials, and other products as required for treatment.
- Take digital impressions, intraoral photographs, scans, and study models as permitted by training and regulations.
- Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist.
- Monitor patient comfort and assist in creating a positive treatment experience.
- Perform sterilization, disinfection, packaging, and storage of instruments according to infection control standards.
- Ensure operatories are cleaned, stocked, and prepared between patients.
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and notify management of supply requirements. *Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records. Assist with treatment plan documentation and charting.
*Support clinic operations, opening and closing procedures, and other administrative responsibilities as required.
- Comply with all occupational health and safety requirements.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
- Properly handle and dispose of sharps, biohazardous materials, and clinical waste.
- Participate in mandatory training, emergency preparedness activities, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications Required *
Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
- Current registration, certification, or licensure as required by applicable provincial regulations.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in dental software and basic computer applications.
Preferred - Previous dental assisting experience.
Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to: Sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday. Maintain dexterity necessary for clinical assisting duties. Lift and transport supplies and equipment within reasonable workplace requirements. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
