About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences,
needs, and values and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Reporting to the Manager of Nutrition & Food Services, and in conjunction with the Food Service Supervisors and
Registered Clinical Dietitians, the Dietary Assistant will perform clerical food service duties associated with patients'
menus, admissions, discharges and diet changes. The position will also perform clerical duties associated with administration and management support, for all areas of the department, including the Cafeteria.
Qualifications:
- Minimum formal clerical administrative education certification and/or post secondary education in Nutrition
- Must have 2 years nutrition and food service experience
- Must be proficient in keyboarding and Microsoft Office
- Must also possess good communication, telephone and organizational skills
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must have the ability to meet changing deadlines
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Safe Food Handler's Certificate (Certification to be current within last 5 year) is an asset
Salary Range:
$28.208 to 28.879 The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets financial and otherwise. All offers of employment to external candidates shall be conditional upon: a satisfactory
Criminal Records Check (CRC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions; and proof of full vaccinations approved by Health Canada to Occupational Health & Safety. Candidates will have demonstrated adherence to the Hospital's Code of Conduct. Regular attendance at work is imperative, therefore, all applicants will have to demonstrate a good attendance record to be considered for this position.
