- Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible, organized, and caring Daycare Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our childcare centre. The Director will provide leadership to educators and support staff while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for children. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of quality childcare programming, maintaining compliance with applicable childcare regulations and centre policies, building positive relationships with families, and providing strong leadership to the childcare team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced and dedicated individual who is passionate about early childhood education and creating a positive environment for children, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the childcare centre and ensure smooth and effective functioning.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to educators and other childcare staff.
- Ensure children receive safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care.
- Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities and learning experiences. - Ensure the centre follows applicable childcare licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate childcare, staff, attendance, and administrative records.
- Communicate professionally and regularly with parents and guardians regarding their children's care, development, and needs.
- Address parent concerns and staff matters promptly and professionally.
- Assist with staff scheduling, orientation, training, and performance management.
- Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the childcare environment.
- Support compliance with emergency procedures, health and safety practices, and incident reporting requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of centre operations.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
- Support enrolment and community outreach initiatives when required. Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience working in a childcare or early learning environment.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education and childcare practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team. - Ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy childcare environment.
- Knowledge of applicable childcare licensing requirements is an asset.
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification or other required childcare credentials, as applicable to the position.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it, as required.
