Starting from $100,000/year (based on full-time; prorated for part time hours)OverviewSmythe LLP is seeking an experienced and well-rounded HR professional to join the firm on a part-time, Monday-to-Friday, flexible 25-hour-per-week maternity leave contract. This role will act as a trusted partner to Partners and senior leaders, providing day-to-day HR support and guidance across a broad range of people matters.The successful candidate will oversee core HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and leadership support within a professional services environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining a strong employee experience, supporting leaders in managing their teams, and ensuring the smooth delivery of HR programs and processes across the firm.The level of the role (Manager or Senior Manager) will be determined based on the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate.Our FirmSmythe LLP is a leading professional services firm with offices in Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Langley. maternity leave coverage role that plays an important leadership function in supporting Smythe’s people priorities. Reporting to the HR Partner, this position provides oversight of core HR operations and works closely with Partners and business leaders to support effective day-to-day people management across the firm.In this role, the successful candidate will lead key HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and HR operations. The focus is on maintaining a strong employee experience, supporting leaders and teams, and ensuring consistent and effective HR practices across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary HR point of contact for managers and employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employee relations mattersManage and resolve employee relations issues, including investigations, performance concerns, and conflict resolutionOversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth employee experienceMaintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee documentationEnsure compliance with employment standards and applicable legislationSupport performance management processes, including reviews, feedback cycles, and documentationCoach and support managers on day-to-day people management (performance, attendance, conduct, etc.)Oversee HR administration, including HRIS updates, reporting,



and record-keepingProvide general HR support across all functions as needed in a hands-on capacityExperience with full-cycle recruitment across departments, partnering closely with hiring managers to fill roles efficientlyWhat we’re looking for5-8+ years of progressive People & Culture (P&C) experience, ideally in a Manager or Senior People & Culture capacityStrong, well-rounded knowledge across HR disciplines (employee relations, recruitment, HR operations)Strong knowledge of the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and applicable employment legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements confidently in day-to-day decisions.Demonstrated experience managing recruitment and partnering with hiring managersConfident handling employee relations matters independentlyStrong judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skillsTech-savvy and adaptable, with experience using HR systems like UKG to support efficient HR operations and decision-makingAbility to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsHR certification (e.G., CPHR) is an assetWhat Smythe offersAt Smythe, we strive to offer a competitive salary and benefits package that accurately reflects our people’s values and ambitions.
