The Director of Care (DOC) is a key member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and daily operations of the Nursing Department. The DOC ensures all clinical and support services are delivered in alignment with the Ministry of Long-Term Care regulations, the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Knollcrest Lodge’s mission and values. Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and mentorship to all nursing staff including RNs, RPNs, and PSWs
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, attendance and performance
- Develop and implement nursing policies, standards of care, and strategic plans to ensure high-quality resident care
- Collaborate with external partners such as physicians, hospitals, and Ontario Health Team members
- Oversee infection prevention and control (IPAC) strategies, including surveillance and outbreak management
- Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and ensure compliance with applicable financial policies
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, audits, and compliance reporting (CQI, etc.)




- Actively participate in Labour Management Committees and union-related meetings (UFCW and ONA)
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for residents and staff

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Registered Nursing Diploma
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience in the Long-Term Care sector
- Minimum of three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role in healthcare
- IPAC certification (a-IPC, CIC, or equivalent) is a strong asset
- ADOC/DOC/Leadership Training course/certification considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and clinical standards (e.g., Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ministry guidelines)
- Experience managing in a unionized environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team

Pay: $104,000.00-$114,000.00 per year
