What the role looks like:

Anne thrives with a consistent daily routine—but there’s still lots of room for your personality to shine. Whether you love arts and crafts, have a knack for painting nails, or want to introduce a new game or sport, your unique gifts are welcomed and encouraged. Supporting Anne means wearing many hats throughout the day:

- Part nurse - Providing personal care, administering medication, keeping records, and supporting Anne in the event of a seizure (her tonic-clonic seizures are currently well controlled with medication).
- Part activity partner - Driving Anne to and participating in community activities (a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required), playing games, exercising together—she loves Just Dance, yoga, shooting hoops, swimming, and going for walks.
- Part artist - Joining in crafts, colouring, painting, and creative projects.· Part stylist
- Helping with hair, nails, and choosing outfits—Anne enjoys feeling her best.
- Part librarian - Sharing in Anne’s love of books—visiting the library, choosing stories, reading together.
- Part homemaker - Supporting daily household routines like laundry, dishes, and light cleaning.
- Part chef - Preparing meals and baking together. Anne has Celiac Disease, so careful attention to avoiding gluten is essential.And most importantly…

About Anne:

- She has an absolutely brilliant sense of humour—seriously, she’s hilarious and knows it.
- Like many of us, she wouldn’t mind being a little more “waited on”… but with the right encouragement (and a bit of gentle persuasion), she’s very capable of getting involved in her daily activities.
- She knows the scripts to many of her favourite Disney movies by heart, can perform scenes with full dramatic flair, and has a musical repertoire that would put most of us to shame.
- When she becomes overwhelmed, she can experience big emotions that sometimes escalate into physically challenging moments. She needs someone who can stay calm, steady, and confident, and consistently follow her established behavioural support plan.

About you:

- You are responsible, reliable, ability to learn and take pride in your work
- You see the good in people and are warm, fun-loving, and enjoy being active
- You are self-motivated, creative, and adaptable
- You’re just as comfortable dancing in the living room as you are sitting quietly to read or colour
- You are able to remain calm and respond effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
- You are confident in setting and maintaining clear boundaries. This role requires someone who is steady, consistent, and able to guide with calm authority and respect.

Requirements:

- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- First Aid certification
- Clean Police Record Check

Assets (but not required):

- Experience supporting individuals with Autism
- Familiarity with seizures
- Knowledge of Celiac Disease

Position Details:

- This position averages 30–35 hours per week




- Starting wage is between $19-21 per hour once you complete training) increasing by $1/hour after 6 months
- You will be part of a team of disability support workers and family members, working together to provide consistent, compassionate care
- This is a contract position. That means: you are paid the full hourly amount (no deductions for taxes, CPP, or EI) There are no additional benefits (such as paid vacation, vacation pay, or paid sick time)

Scheduling:

- Shifts range from 4 to 12 hours
- Shifts are required 7 days a week, including weekends
- Most shifts fall between 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Although, occasional overnight shifts may be required
- Schedules are created several weeks in advance, and flexibility is important. Life happens, and occasionally shifts may need to be changed—but we ask that staff take an active role in finding replacement coverage whenever possible. Consistent support is essential, not only for Anne’s wellbeing, but also for our ability to manage our own work commitments.
