Position Summary
Manager, Donor Relations & Philanthropy is responsible for inspiring philanthropic investment in the Children's Hearing & Speech Centre of BC by building authentic, lasting relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations and community partners. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role leads the Centre's annual fundraising program and donor stewardship initiatives, helping ensure that every child with a hearing difference has access to exceptional listening and spoken language services. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned relationship manager who enjoys both strategy and execution.
The successful candidate is self-directed, organized, action-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision. They take initiative, follow through on commitments, enjoy being out in the community, and are equally comfortable cultivating a major donor, writing a sponsorship proposal, or making thank-you calls. Key Responsibilities
Relationship Development
- Develop, cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with individual donors, corporations and foundations.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective donors and funding opportunities.
- Represent CHSC as an enthusiastic ambassador in the community.
Fundraising Strategy
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement the annual fundraising plan.
- Achieve annual fundraising goals with a focus on unrestricted operating revenue.
- Monitor results and identify opportunities to strengthen fundraising performance.
Donor Stewardship
- Ensure donors receive timely acknowledgements, recognition and meaningful impact reporting.
- Maintain complete, accurate and current records within the donor CRM (Salesforce).
- Coordinate donation receipting and stewardship activities.
Foundation, Sponsorship & Community Partnerships
- Prepare proposals, sponsorship requests and applications to private foundations and corporate partners.
- Prepare reports for funders and maintain strong ongoing relationships.
Fundraising Events
- Provide strategic leadership for fundraising events, including the Centre's annual gala.
- Work collaboratively with external event contractors, volunteers, Board members and the CHSC team to achieve fundraising objectives.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Executive Director and CHSC team to ensure fundraising initiatives are supported through compelling storytelling and communications.
- Participate in staff meetings, Centre events and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of progressive experience in fundraising, relationship management, business development or a related field.
- Demonstrated success building trusted relationships and achieving fundraising or revenue goals.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Experience using a donor relationship management (CRM) system.
- Highly organized, self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- A warm, collaborative approach and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children and families.
Hours of Work This is a permanent part-time position averaging 25 hours per week. The position follows a hybrid work model. The successful candidate is expected to work from the Centre each Thursday to collaborate with colleagues and participate in meetings, with the remainder of the schedule worked remotely or in the community as appropriate. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for donor meetings, fundraising events and community activities.
Remuneration
Competitive compensation in the range of $65,000 to $72,000 annually (25 hours per week) will be provided based on qualifications and experience. CHSC offers a generous extended health and dental benefits package, professional development support, flexible work arrangements, and approximately six weeks of paid time away from work through a combination of vacation entitlement and paid Centre closures. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work-related travel in accordance with Centre policy.
