Summary

As an Early Childhood Educator an early childhood setting, you will work alongside a co-teacher and support them in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for young children. Your role is crucial in promoting the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of preschool-aged children.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in Classroom Management:
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining a well-organized and clean classroom environment.
- Help with setting up learning materials, arranging seating, and preparing educational resources.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children by closely monitoring them during all activities indoor and out.
- Assist with hygiene routines, including bathroom breaks and handwashing.
- Follow the Licensing regulations for Nova Scotia Child Care
- Curriculum Implementation:
- Assist in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the curriculum., using a Reggio Emilia philosophy standard of child-led activity planning.
- Engage children in educational games, storytelling, arts and crafts, obstacle courses, body movement games, songs and other hands-on activities.
- Individualized Support:
- Provide one-on-one support to children who may need extra assistance
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere to promote social and emotional development.
- Communication:
- Maintain open and positive communication with primary caregivers regarding their child's progress and daily activities.
- Use our app; Lillio and an assigned table to the classroom, communicate and record information for primary caregivers and crew members including meals, activities, photos and more.
- Behavior Management:




- Assist in promoting positive behavior by implementing classroom rules and guidance techniques.
- Address any behavioral challenges with patience, consistency, and a focus on positive behaviour guidance strategies
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and any incidents.
- Document observations and developmental milestones.
- Health and Wellness:
- Monitor and administer snacks and meals according to established guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe play area, and follow health and safety protocols.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications

- Early Childhood Educator designation, Entry Level or above
- CPR-C and First Aid certification
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector check

-Child Abuse Registry Letter from Nova Scotia

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.

Pay: $17.50-$27.61 per hour
