Part-Time Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
Job Type: Part-Time
Hours: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Start Date: September 2026 (subject to licensing approval and final opening date)
About St. Peter’s Childcare
St. Peter’s Childcare is a Catholic faith-based childcare program located at St. Peter’s Parish in Recent Westminster, BC.
We provide a warm, inclusive, and nurturing setting where every child feels protected, valued, and supported. Guided by the BC Early Learning Framework and Catholic values, our play-based program encourages children to learn through exploration, meaningful relationships, and hands-on experiences.
We are looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our team.
Position Overview The Early Childhood Educator will work collaboratively with the Childcare Manager and other educators to provide a protected, nurturing, play-based, and faith-filled learning environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care and supervision throughout the daily program
- Build positive, responsive, and respectful relationships with children
- Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences
- Support children's social-emotional development and positive peer interactions
- Assist with daily routines, transitions, outdoor activities, and neighbourhood walks
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming childcare environment
- Follow BC childcare licensing requirements and centre health and safety procedures
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with families and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with the childcare team
- Respect and support the Catholic values and philosophy of St. Peter’s Childcare
Required Qualifications
- Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
- Current First Aid Certificate appropriate for childcare
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Knowledge of child development and play-based learning
- Familiarity with the BC Early Learning Framework
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Caring, patient, dependable, and skilled
- Legally entitled to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
Important Eligibility Information A full BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate is required. Applicants who hold only an ECEA (Early Childhood Educator Assistant) Certificate will not be considered for this position. St. Peter’s Childcare is unable to provide LMIA, work permit, or visa/immigration sponsorship. Applicants must already be legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
Assets
- Previous experience working in a licensed group childcare setting
- Experience working with children aged 30 months to school age
- Experience supporting children with diverse abilities and needs
- Knowledge of inclusive childcare practices
- Experience working in a Catholic or faith-based environment
