Industrial Electrical Apprentice
Contract
Location Hamilton, ON
Seeking a Full time Electrician Apprentice - 3rd/4th Year preferably to join our growing team.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and regulatory policies, and practices ensuring safe, efficient and consistent operation and maintenance of equipment and processes
- Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lockout and emergency response
- Perform daily checks (continuity, current, voltage and resistance) and diagnostics on equipment
- Repair, install and test the equipment (Transformers, regulators, motors, generators, electrical control system)
- Design control panels and install circuit power distribution
- Interpret the requirements of the Canadian Electrical code and ensure compliance
- Responding to emergencies during breakdown
- PLC programming (A.P.I.)
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures, to minimize downtime and maintenance costs, and manage equipment efficiencies
- Perform downtime repair work; troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions, identify opportunities for optimization
- Prior experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial equipment and PLC controlled machinery
- Ensure that all work completed meets regulatory guidelines, manufacturers’ specifications and internal maintenance procedures
- Knowledge and experience in reading electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics
- Interpret, complete and record work orders
- Maintain proper documentation including logs, maintenance records, safety and environment reports
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have completed 1-3 years of their required hours towards their Apprenticeship.
- Have ideally completed their required in class education towards the Industrial Electrician certification.
- Actively registered with the Ministry's College of Trades.
- Experience with Siemens 5/7 an asset
- Grade 12 High School Diploma
- Comfortable workday and Night shifts – 8 to 12 hour shifts
- Previous experience of using computer software applicable to maintenance operations
- Demonstrated analytical skills
