Eascan Automation Inc. — Electrical Designer — Industrial Controls
Winnipeg, MB | Full-time | $60,000–$90,000
You will design the electrical systems that power custom automated machinery from concept through commissioning. That means turning customer requirements into complete drawing packages, working closely with project managers, programmers, panel builders, electricians, and seeing your designs become machines running on customers' floors.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of materials, and supporting documentation for industrial control systems.
- Select and size electrical and control components for custom automation projects.
- Develop designs from customer specifications, existing equipment, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and field teams so every system integrates properly.
- Support panel fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting when design questions arise.
- Prepare accurate as-built drawing packages and maintain complete project documentation.
- Identify design risks, missing information, and potential scope changes early in the project.
- Help improve and standardize our electrical design practices.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A diploma or degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing industrial control panels or automation systems.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software.
- A solid understanding of industrial electrical equipment, motor controls, PLC-based systems, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
- The ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and field wiring drawings.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and industrial control panel requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary project teams.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience designing control panels for Canadian, U.S., or international markets.
- Familiarity with CSA, UL, CE, IEC, or other industrial electrical and machinery standards.
- Machine safety circuits and functional safety design.
- Process instrumentation, analog control systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Experience supporting fabrication, field installation, or commissioning.
- Electrical estimating and material takeoffs.
- Experience working for an automation integrator, OEM, panel shop, or manufacturing facility.
- CET, C.Tech., EIT, P.Eng., or another related qualified designation.
THE OFFER
- Market-competitive salary — Paid to the market for the trade and the experience you bring, and reviewed as you grow.
- $2,500 Health Spending Account /year — Yours to spend on what your family actually needs, on top of the benefits plan.
- Health Benefits Plan + Vision and Dental — Full plan including vision and dental, with premiums shared evenly between you and Eascan.

- OT & 2×OT, on-call, weekends, holidays — Overtime and double overtime when the call comes in. If you give up your Saturday, you are paid for it.
- Work from Home, hybrid arrangements — Flexibility to work from home on a hybrid schedule, where the role allows for it.
- Monthly phone allowance — Reimbursed every month toward your phone bill, so work calls are not coming out of your pocket.
- Paid Time Off + extra personal days — Vacation and paid personal days, and unpaid personal days as necessary (we know, life happens!)
- Optional Extended health care — Additional coverage available on top of the plan if you want it for you or your family.
- On-site Parking — Park at the door on Wall Street. No lot hunting, no monthly pass, no winter walk.
- Health and Wellness Support — Online Support for you and your family: counselling and 24/7 crisis support, a licensed physician on video any hour, second opinions, legal and financial advice, and a pharmacy that delivers.
FLEXIBILITY Start early, start late, bank time and take it back. Appointments, school pickups, a long weekend that actually starts on Friday. The deal is straightforward: we expect excellence in the work,
we expect the work to be done awesomely and timely, and we expect you to enjoy your life to the fullest while being a great professional. Flexibility is the first thing our team mentions when you ask what they like about working here.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will meet the manager of the department you are applying to, and the CEO. That is who decides, so that is who you talk to.
- Step one: A Teams call. One conversation to get to know each other. No panel, no take-home assignment.
- Step two: A visit to the shop. Come see the floor, the machines, and the people. It is as much your call as ours.
- Step three, sometimes: One last chat, then a Job Offer. Only when we have several strong people at once and need a closer look. Then, the results.
HIRING AT HOME This role is based at our shop on Wall Street in Winnipeg. We are putting our hiring into Manitoba, into the local trades and the local economy, and we are proud of that.
Immigrants with a valid work permit or permanent residency are very welcome to apply. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time. So if you are not legally entitled to work in Canada, or are not here and not willing to relocate, this may not be the right moment for us.
ABOUT EASCAN
Eascan has been designing and building custom automation, robotics, and control systems in Winnipeg since 1992. In 2026, Eascan became employee-owned, reinforcing the accountability, long-term thinking, and pride that have always defined how we work.
Eascan is led by women in an industry where women and many other groups remain underrepresented. We believe diverse teams build better ideas, stronger relationships, and better solutions. If you've ever looked at a role like this and wondered whether you belonged, we encourage you to apply. We'd love to see more women and people from diverse backgrounds join our team: in the shop, in the field, and in the office.
Not sure you tick every box? Apply anyway. We would rather meet someone with the right head on their shoulders than someone with a perfect checklist.
