Make It With Pride.Working as part of a cross‑functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete Packaging Design and Packaging Deployment for Innovation/Growth projects and productivity projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.ResponsibilitiesHow you will contributeWith the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing, and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct activities to generate appropriate packaging information, using sampling and supplier management and pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In this role, you will plan and conduct process development activities (e.G., packaging design, specifications, scale‑up, commissioning) and help with planning and effective use of resources, including external agencies. You will also create technical reports—requiring analysis and interpretation of results leading to conclusions and recommendations; create and maintain accurate packaging specifications; and create intellectualproperty to drive our competitive advantage.More about this roleExecute with excellence the development and commercialization of packaging initiatives from concept through commercialization, developing timelines, risk assessment and contingency plans to ensure execution on projects with limited supervision.Design, plan and conduct analytical testing, line trials and package performance testing.Lead and/or support plant trials for packaging materials, working with cross‑functional teams (Marketing, Procurement, Business Development, Production, Supply Chain and Quality), properly planning, coordinating and reporting each trial,



providing appropriate technical support and troubleshooting to execute trial objectives and ensure proper documentation.Ensure all Packaging Quality expectations are delivered.Leverage and challenge suppliers and partners to develop new technologies and cost‑advantage packaging formats and materials to achieve business goals.Generate, develop and execute packaging ideas by leveraging both existing equipment and new equipment.Troubleshoot issues that arise from package development, line trials and commercialization with limited supervision.Understand the financial impact of packaging programs and the linkage of packaging to business strategies.What extra ingredients you will bringPackaging Materials: apply technical material knowledge to current projects; provide technical‑basedsolutions.Packaging Equipment: apply knowledge of equipment, operation, capacities, limitations, and potential mechanical shortfalls.Packaging Evaluation: apply knowledge of test methodologies for packaging material specification development; identify gaps within internal testing capabilities; recommend additional critical parameters; outline procedures and work with quality teams.Graphics: apply knowledge around the printing process to determine how it affects package performance; make appropriate recommendations.Product Packaging interactions: apply knowledge of product, process, and package interactions and modes of failure to make material recommendations and narrow down variables during development.Ability to work with different levels of the organization.Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.Ability to get results through working with a diverse team.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage complexity.Executional excellence,



time management and problem‑solving competencies.QualificationsWhat you will bringWorking on teams and independently with the guidance of a managerPrioritizing and managing activitiesIdentifying problems proactively and creating and implementing solutions independentlyApplying fundamental technical understanding to interpret and analyze data to reach explicit conclusionsCommunicating effectively verbally and in writing, including technical writingPutting the consumer at the heart of development activitiesTechnical curiosity and a collaborative mindsetEducation / CertificationsBachelor of Science degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.Job specific requirements12 months experience in a packaging development role, including co‑op and/or internship experience.Experience working in a Research, Development and/or Quality function.Planning and project management abilities.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Experience in development, trials, and commercialization of packaging initiatives.DesiredKnowledge and/or experience with Lean Six Sigma tools and process control systems, intermediate statistics experience, including Design of Experiments and use of Minitab.Travel requirementsAbility to travel up to 25% of the time for domestic and international vendor/manufacturing visits.Work scheduleHybrid work schedule: 2 days a week work from office.Salary and BenefitsThe expected base salary range for this position is $69,800 to $87,250 CAD depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in a highly competitive bonus program with a target of 8% with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
