Aurora Montessori School is seeking a caring, adaptable, and experienced Elementary Resource / Floater Teacher to join our Elementary Division.

This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys working collaboratively across multiple classrooms and supporting students and existing homeroom and specialty teachers wherever additional assistance is needed. The successful candidate will work with individual students and small groups, provide academic support, assist classroom teachers, and step into classrooms as needed.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized and small-group academic support to Elementary students.
- Support students in literacy, reading, writing, mathematics, and other areas as required.




- Work with students who may benefit from additional reinforcement, intervention, or enrichment.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student needs and provide appropriate academic support.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, lessons, projects, and student supervision.
- Move between Elementary classrooms based on daily needs and priorities.
- Provide classroom coverage when teachers are absent, attending meetings, or otherwise unavailable.
- Maintain established classroom routines and expectations when providing coverage.
- Observe student progress and communicate relevant observations to classroom teachers.
- Support a calm, respectful, organized, and positive learning environment.
- Become familiar with Montessori philosophy and classroom practices and support the independence of students within the Montessori setting.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development as required.

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
- Primary/Junior qualifications.
- Previous elementary classroom teaching experience.
- Experience providing one-on-one and small-group academic support.

Additional Assets:





- Montessori Elementary training or previous experience in a Montessori environment.
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing.
- Special Education Additional Qualification (AQ).
- Reading, Literacy, Mathematics, or other relevant Additional Qualifications.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Experience with academic intervention, enrichment, or differentiated instruction.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is genuinely comfortable being a resource throughout the Elementary Division rather than being assigned exclusively to one classroom. The ideal candidate is observant and proactive and can recognize where support is needed while respecting the classroom teacher's routines and teaching approach.

They should be equally comfortable working one-on-one with a student, leading a small academic group, assisting a classroom teacher, or taking responsibility for a classroom when coverage is required.

Previous Montessori experience is valuable but is not essential. We welcome experienced Ontario elementary educators who are interested in learning and working within a Montessori environment.
