Basic Function The Engineering Summer Student’s primary function is to support the engineering team by assisting with a variety of tasks. This includes tasks such as assisting in the design and testing of electrical systems or components, documenting project progress and findings, conducting research, troubleshooting issues as they arise, collaborating with team members, adhering to safety protocols, attending meetings to learn about project management and communication, and overall, contributing to the successful completion of engineering projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience and knowledge in the field of electrical engineering.

Qualifications

Education

- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic background with coursework in electrical circuits, power systems, and electromechanical devices.
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering software tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.




- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Prior internship experience or relevant extracurricular activities is considered an asset.

Duties:

- Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical power systems and components.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities offered within the organization.
- Potential for continued engagement or full-time employment opportunities based on performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze and troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and methodologies to enhance system performance and efficiency.
- Participate in the planning and execution of engineering projects, adhering to timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct research and gather data to support engineering analysis and decision-making processes.
- Document project progress, findings, and outcomes in comprehensive reports and presentations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in field environments.

Other

- This position is a mix of office and fieldwork. A small portion of this position will require some time in the field.
- CSA-Approved safety boots (Green triangle designation) are necessary for this role.
