General Purpose:
The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and directing health and safety programs and activities throughout the operation to evaluate, prevent, control, or correct unsafe working conditions and hazards.
Key Activities:
Activity A: Health and Safety Program Creation & Maintenance 30%
- Manage and participate in the Safety Consortium activities on behalf of the Corporation
- Perform onboarding activities for all new hires
- Assist with division training efforts, facility management, materials, equipment, training records, training matrix.
- Liaise with Human Resources to create and maintain annual training calendar of relevant workplace training topics.
- Assist with the coordination of training for specific safety training programs, monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of training programs, conducted.
- Maintain Physical Demands Assessments
- Maintain Prestart Health and Safety Review programs and documentation
- Coordinate, and participate in, safety assessments, audits, inspections, and industrial hygiene monitoring
- Maintain Safety KPI’s and trending analysis
- Maintain EHS Insight system
- Maintain the EASE auditing system
Activity B: Disability & Occupational Injury Management 20%
- Manage Occupational claims, liaising with 3rdparty support Vendor, Risk Management Solutions
- Create, maintain and analyze incident report completion
- Ensure Early and Safe Return to work program is active and functioning. Monitor modified work offers, brainstorm to ensure adequate modified work is offered, and ensure follow up of medical information.
- Perform and support the workplace in root cause analysis for all medical aids and lost time incidents. Review workplace for potential reoccurrence and proactively work with operations and maintenance to control hazard.
- Update and maintain all information related to claims management in disability leave log, communicating with relevant workplace business partners (HR, Supervisor, Payroll, Injured Employee)
- Communicate trending statistics to operations leadership and Location Management
Activity C: Legislative Compliance 15%
- Liaise with the OSHA and other municipal and provincial regulators for all on site visits, maintaining records and work order compliance
- Stay abreast of developments in the areas of Health and Safety
- Ensure legal requirements are maintained under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable legislation
- Update policies, procedures, programs, and workplace activities to meet legal requirements
- Support Operations leadership team to ensure compliance and implement best practices
- Communicate to internal stakeholders’ changes in policy, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations
Activity D: Joint Health and Safety Lead 10%
- Manage the Health and Safety program as the Management Certified Member, Co-Chair
- Review Corrective and Preventative Actions Items and schedule routine follow up. Monitor for completion rates and communicate to the business and stakeholders
- Liaise with JHSC members to ensure engagement and knowledge with safety committee members
- Manage monthly workplace inspection program
Activity E: Continuous Improvement 5%
- Analyze current processes and recommend changes as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Education):
Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
Skills, Abilities & Equipment Operated:
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Highly organized and service oriented, with the ability to impact and influence without authority.
- Strong sense of urgency who works well under pressure and reacts to stressful situations with professionalism.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products and the ability to analyze and maintain information in Safety Management System.
- Excellent written, verbal and comprehension skills
Previous Experience Preferred
- 5+ years of related experience in a Health and Safety role within a manufacturing facility
- Experience with OSHA
Job Type: Full time
Pay: $95,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
