Coordinate and implement joint work plan initiatives under the Education Partnership Program to enhance the quality, accessibility, and retention rates of First Nations student education.
Salary: up to $81,468 annually based on qualifications
Location: Any KOBE office (Thunder Bay, Balmertown, Sioux Lookout, OR Dryden)
Responsibilities:
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a direct liaison between KOBE, member First Nation communities
- Coordinate activities set out in the EPP Joint Work Plan / Joint Implementation Plan.
- Represent KOBE and participating First Nations at EPP Partnership Table meetings and NAN education forums.
Program Coordination & Student Support Initiatives
- Plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate EPP initiatives focused on student transition, retention, literacy, and academic success.
- Facilitate joint educational initiatives between provincial board schools and First Nation schools (e.g., Pelican Falls First Nation High School, Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, and KiHS).
- Share information, resources, and best practices across partner organizations to support culturally responsive pedagogy and student transitions.
Reporting, Work Planning & Documentation
- Prepare progress reports, status updates, briefing notes, and year-end reporting for EPP committees and funding partners.
- Assist with proposal development, work plan drafting, budget tracking, and program reporting requirements.
- Maintain complete documentation and compliance with program guidelines.
Community & Cultural Integration
- Support the integration of Indigenous Ways of Knowing, languages (Ojibwe, Oji-Cree, Cree), and land-based learning within program frameworks.
- Facilitate engagement with Local Education Authorities (LEAs), parents/guardians, and community leadership.
Qualifications: Education: Degree or diploma in Education, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
Experience: 3+ years in education administration, Indigenous education program delivery, or project management within First Nations organizations or school boards
Key Skills:
- In-depth understanding of First Nations education systems, governance models, and provincial school board frameworks in Ontario
- Demonstrated proficiency in project planning, report writing, and stakeholder collaboration
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and public presentation skills
- Proficiency in office applications (MS Office and virtual meeting tools)
Assets & Additional Requirements:
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language (Ojibwe, Oji-Cree, or Cree) is typically considered a solid asset
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel to remote fly-in First Nation communities as needed
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
