Paralegal – Family Law
Bellagio Law
Who we are
Bellagio Law is a people-focused, fast-growing firm with a practical approach to family law. Our culture is collaborative, respectful, and ambitious. We prioritize autonomy, clear communication, and meaningful client work over unnecessary bureaucracy.
What's the role
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to support a busy family law practice. This role is for someone who already understands family law files and does not need hand-holding.
You will work closely with lawyers on active files from intake to resolution, manage deadlines independently, and serve as a key point of continuity for clients and lawyers.
If you are looking for real responsibility, professional respect, and a firm that values competence over micromanagement, this role will suit you.
What you will actually be doing
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence with minimal revision required
- Preparing and filing materials with the Court of King’s Bench
- Managing financial disclosure, including Notices to Disclose and supporting documentation
- Preparing chambers and questioning materials
- Owning limitation dates, filing deadlines, and file timelines without prompting
- Direct client contact throughout the life of the file
Required experience & skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in family law (non-negotiable)
- Strong understanding of Alberta family court procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and independent deadline management
- Professional judgment, discretion, and client-management skills
- Experience with LEAP or similar practice-management software preferred
Also non-negotiable – who you are
- Smart – picks things up quickly and does not need the same thing explained twice
- Hard-working – carries a full file load and hits deadlines without prompting
- Driven – looks for what needs doing rather than waiting to be told
- Humble – takes feedback without defensiveness, asks when unsure, and shares credit
What's in it for YOU
- Four (4) weeks of paid time off per year, inclusive of sick days
- Respect for your experience and judgment
- A structured but up-to-date practice with clear systems and organized workflows
- A professional, low-drama environment focused on quality work
- Long-term stability in a growing firm where this role is core to the practice
