Role Description The Fabricator role at OCW Metal Works Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Sturgeon Falls, ON. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, measuring and cutting metal materials, and operating fabrication equipment such as welders, cutters, and machining tools.

The Fabricator will assemble and weld components, fit and finish parts to specifications, and perform quality checks to ensure all products meet company and regulatory standards, including Transport Canada requirements for trailers. Additional duties involve maintaining a clean and protected work area, monitoring equipment for proper operation, and collaborating with team members to complete custom fabrication projects on schedule.



The role may include assisting in the repair and modification of existing metal structures and trailers as needed.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong metal fabrication and welding skills, including experience with MIG, TIG, or stick welding and the ability to work with various metals and thicknesses.
- Candidates should possess skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements, as well as basic math and layout skills for accurate cutting and fitting.
- Candidates should possess machining and shop equipment operation skills, such as using saws, drills, grinders, and other metalworking tools safely and efficiently.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to shop safety protocols, and awareness of regulatory standards.
- Candidates should possess practical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on producing precise, high-quality work.
- Previous experience in fabrication, welding, trailer manufacturing, or a related trade is highly beneficial; a relevant trade certification or apprenticeship is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting materials, standing for extended periods, and working in a workshop environment.
- Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
