The Town of Ponoka is currently recruiting for Facilities Attendants in the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department.
Position Summary The Facilities Attendant reports to the Recreation Scheduler, and works with colleagues in the department to provide quality services to internal and external customers. The team’s work will collectively support the Vision of the Town of Ponoka: To be a thriving community with a hometown feel.
This position will support the team by collecting and accounting for recreation facility use and/or entrance fees and providing customer service.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collect and account for facility use and/or entrance fees by:
· Ensuring customers are paying appropriate entrance fees.
· Accepting debit, credit and cash payments.
· Balancing the daily cash receipts.
2. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance activities by:
· Washing floors, cleaning washrooms, picking up garbage etc.
· Vacuuming and maintaining cleanliness of lobby.
· Ensuring laundry is washed and folded.
3. Provide customer service by:
· Booking Town facilities such as arena complex, aquaplex and sports fields.
· Selling recreation memberships and passes.
· Assisting clients and responding to request by providing accurate and appropriate information.
· Perform other general and assigned duties.
Minimum Requirements
Education
· Knowledge required to adequately perform the duties of this position would likely have been gained through completion of Grade 10.
· Professional demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Other
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable sector check
Competencies
Knowledge:
· Knowledge of first aid and emergency response
· General knowledge of safety rules and regulations
· Valuable working knowledge of customer service
· Some knowledge of building cleaning and maintenance
Skills:
· Skill in operating a cash register and/or similar equipment
· Ability to count currency and make change accurately
· Ability to operate a computer for long periods of time
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
· Ability to make arithmetic computations
· Skill in handling customer concerns, requests, and complaints
· Ability to communicate effectively with staff, and the public To be effective in this position, an individual will:

Working Conditions
· Varying levels of physical effort, including moderate lifting (up to 25kg), sitting, walking, standing, pushing, pulling.
· Required to work in busy, open office area.

Recruitment
· Position status: Casual part-time, AUPE
· Salary range: $16.25 - $18.82 per hour
