As a Field Sales Veterinary Diagnostic Consultant (VDC), you will be on the front lines working to build strong relationships with veterinary customers to help sell IDEXX’s medical device diagnostics portfolio of products. In this field sales role, you will engage customers through knowledgeable interactions, business discussions and educational opportunities about what IDEXX has to offer. You will leverage your consultative selling techniques to translate customer needs into diagnostic solutions that leverage IDEXX's suite of products and services.
In helping veterinary practices grow their diagnostic revenue, you will establish yourself as a valued partner.
Key Responsibilities - Leverage consultative selling techniques to translate customer needs into diagnostic solutions across IDEXX’s portfolio of products and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with veterinary clinic and hospital staff through knowledgeable interactions, business discussions, and educational opportunities.
- Independently manage a territory and customer base to increase recurring diagnostic revenue and achieve quarterly medical‑device equipment sales.
- Increase utilization of in‑house diagnostic tests, assays, instrument consumables, and reference laboratory profiles and advanced tests among the customer base.
- Collaborate and “co‑sell” with other IDEXX sales professionals to close capital equipment and technology deals.
- Educate and train clinic staff on products, services, and marketing initiatives to support sales and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date knowledge of IDEXX’s products and services.
- Communicate customer needs, competitive issues, and service feedback to IDEXX marketing and the business‑unit manager.
- Partner with laboratory operations to ensure timely resolution of customer questions and service issues.
- Represent IDEXX values professionally and model corporate purpose and guiding principles.
- Attend trade shows and other educational events in the region.
- Manage IDEXX expenses and resources in accordance with company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) or more years of proven experience managing an outside‑sales territory.
- Prior experience in veterinary/animal health, human healthcare, medical‑device sales, dental‑device sales, or capital‑equipment sales.
- Team‑oriented, collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills.
- Availability for extensive car travel (company car provided), overnight stays, weekend work as needed, and ability to lift up to 60lb.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working in veterinary clinic and hospital environments.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to the Kingston, ON territory.
Benefits - Competitive base salary: $90,000 – $105,000CAD (adjusted for experience).
