POSITION TITLE: Field Service Technician LOCATION: Sudbury, ON MacLean Engineering is looking for a skilled and experienced Field Service Technician to join our growing aftermarket warehouse team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, supplying aftermarket parts for heavy mobile mining equipment to various customers internationally, and to our other Ontario manufacturing plants. About the Position: The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site support for the customer’s fleet of MacLean equipment. They ensure they provide technical expertise and support to MacLean customers and follow up with MacLean’s engineering team regarding equipment performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze structural, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic system failures and determine the cause of the problem Perform short- and long-term corrective actions necessary to correct and prevent recurrence of failure Perform disassembly, reassembly, commissioning/testing, and troubleshooting of MEMCO equipment at customer sites or MEMCO facilities, as required Perform scheduled tasks in a timely and professional manner according to the instructions of the immediate supervisor Timely execute large-scale projects assigned by the service manager, including but not limited to preparing technical reports and presentations, equipment audit presentations and repair cost estimates, and others Develop professional working relationships with key customer personnel and communicate any changes in customer organization or policy to the service manager Identify potential business opportunities and communicate them to the appropriate MEMCO team (sales, engineering, and others) Strict adherence to all MacLean Engineering and client health and safety policies for mining and non-mining sites, as well as other policies.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Certificate of qualification as a construction equipment mechanic or other certification and experience relevant to the position Modular mining worker training modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. May be completed on the job.
Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience as Journey Person,
preferably on heavy mobile equipment Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, hydraulic assembly drawings and electrical wiring Harness and control system schematics Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to be flexible and open to new methods, processes and technologies Ability to work independently or within a team under minimal supervision Possess strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Conflict management and problem-solving skills Effectively communicate at a multi-disciplinary level with Engineering, Purchasing and Marketing staff Proven leadership skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office products Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract Willing to work overtime, off-shift and weekends (i.e. respond to after-hour customer calls) if required Willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally for extended durations if required (valid passports will eventually be required) Must possess and maintain an explosives permit Bilingual (French and English) We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including:
