We are currently seeking an experienced Field Supervisor – Journeyman Power Line Technician to join our Grande Prairie operations team.

This is a field-based leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple Foremen and crews while supporting the safe, productive, and profitable execution of projects.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field—supporting Foremen, visiting active projects, resolving constraints, coordinating resources, mentoring leaders, and ensuring our crews have what they need to perform at a high level.

This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for a visible, engaged field leader with strong Power Line Technician experience who understands construction execution and knows how to develop strong Foremen and high-performing crews.

Position Summary The Field Supervisor is a senior field leader responsible for the safe, disciplined, and productive execution of RAHCAR’s construction operations. Reporting to senior operational and project leadership, the Field Supervisor provides direct leadership and support to multiple Foremen and indirect oversight of assigned field crews.

The role bridges project management and field execution, ensuring Foremen are supported, crews are properly resourced, safety and quality standards are maintained, and projects progress efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership

- Provide direct leadership, coaching, and support to multiple Foremen and field crews.
- Maintain a strong and visible presence across active jobsites.
- Help Foremen plan their work, organize resources, and overcome operational challenges.
- Ensure Foremen clearly understand project scope, schedule, safety expectations, production targets, and quality requirements.
- Mentor developing Foremen and help strengthen their leadership, planning, communication, and accountability skills.
- Identify performance issues early and work with Foremen to implement corrective actions.
- Support difficult conversations, employee discipline, and performance management when required.
- Build a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Planning & Coordination
- Participate in short-term and look-ahead planning with Project Managers and Foremen.
- Ensure upcoming work is properly planned before crews arrive on site.
- Confirm manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, locates, access, permits, drawings, outages, and other project requirements are available.
- Identify constraints early and coordinate solutions before they impact production.
- Support mobilization and demobilization planning.




- Coordinate resources between crews and projects to minimize downtime and maximize utilization.
- Work with Project Management to prioritize work and maintain project schedules.
- Anticipate upcoming manpower and equipment requirements and communicate them proactively.

Production & Operational Performance
- Monitor daily and weekly production across multiple crews.
- Confirm crews understand the scope and production expectations for each shift.
- Review installed quantities, progress, equipment utilization, and crew performance.
- Identify underperforming crews or recurring production issues and develop corrective plans.
- Support Foremen in improving crew organization, workflow, productivity, and execution.
- Identify design conflicts, access issues, locate constraints, material shortages, equipment limitations, and other risks affecting production.
- Communicate project risks and emerging issues to Project Management promptly.
- Promote efficient use of labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within allowable budgets.

Safety Leadership
- Champion RAHCAR’s safety culture and lead by example.
- Ensure Foremen and crews consistently complete required hazard assessments, tailboards, inspections, and safety documentation.
- Conduct regular field observations and jobsite inspections.
- Address unsafe conditions and behaviours immediately.
- Ensure appropriate hazard controls, PPE requirements, grounding, switching, and electrical safe-work practices are followed.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations.
- Work collaboratively with RAHCAR’s Safety team on audits, corrective actions, competency development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Exercise stop-work authority whenever conditions warrant.

Foreman Development & Accountability
- Hold regular discussions with Foremen regarding performance, workload, crew development, and upcoming project requirements.
- Mentor Foremen in planning, leadership, employee management, documentation, and client communication.
- Help Foremen identify and develop high-potential employees.
- Identify competency and training gaps within assigned crews.
- Support employee competency reviews and development plans.
- Address performance and disciplinary concerns before they become larger problems.
- Provide leadership feedback and recommendations regarding employee advancement, training, promotion, or corrective action.
- Help build RAHCAR’s next generation of Foremen, Superintendents, and field leaders.

Quality & Technical Oversight
- Provide senior PLT technical oversight and support to Foremen and crews.
- Ensure crews understand applicable electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, utility standards, and project requirements.
- Support Foremen with switching, grounding, outage planning, energized work requirements, and complex field conditions as required.
- Monitor field quality and identify deficiencies before they become rework.
- Support Foremen in correcting quality issues promptly.
- Confirm required inspections, testing, photographs, and quality documentation are completed.
- Ensure field changes and site conditions are properly communicated and documented.

Administration & Reporting
- Review daily field reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Confirm employee and equipment hours are properly captured.
- Verify installed quantities and field counts where applicable.
- Ensure required photographs and quality records are completed.
- Confirm scope changes, extra work, delays, and potential change-order items are identified and communicated.
- Monitor paperwork compliance across assigned crews.
- Review timesheet accuracy and equipment utilization.
- Support cost awareness by periodically reviewing project performance and allowable expenses.
- Provide concise operational updates to Project Management and leadership.

Fleet & Equipment
- Monitor equipment condition, utilization, and availability across assigned crews.
- Ensure required inspections and pre-trip documentation are completed.
- Identify maintenance needs before they result in downtime.
- Coordinate equipment repairs and replacements with the appropriate internal resources.
- Identify upcoming equipment requirements and communicate them in advance.




- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are maintained to RAHCAR standards.

Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Represent RAHCAR professionally with clients, inspectors, consultants, developers, and utility representatives.
- Support Foremen with challenging client or stakeholder interactions.
- Communicate project status, constraints, and emerging risks professionally.
- Help resolve field issues quickly and collaboratively.
- Ensure RAHCAR consistently delivers the level of professionalism and service expected by our clients.

Required Qualifications

- Journeyman Power Line Technician certification with Red Seal endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior field leadership role such as Field Supervisor, Superintendent, General Foreman, Senior Foreman, or similar utility-construction leadership position.
- Proven experience supervising multiple Foremen, crews, or work fronts.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution construction, maintenance, switching, grounding, and safe work practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and hold Foremen accountable.
- Strong safety leadership and understanding of electrical and construction hazard management.
- Ability to identify operational problems quickly and develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Experience coordinating manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project priorities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, construction drawings, specifications, and work packages.
- Strong understanding of daily reporting, productivity tracking, cost awareness, and documentation requirements.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Willingness to travel between active projects and spend the majority of working time in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

- Extensive electrical distribution construction and maintenance experience.
- Transmission construction or maintenance experience.
- Rubber Glove Certification and strong live-line work background.
- Experience with ATCO, FortisAlberta, ENMAX, EPCOR, or other Alberta utility standards.
- Previous Superintendent or General Foreman experience.
- Ground Disturbance Level II.
- Standard First Aid/CPR.
- Leadership or supervisory training.
- Project-management experience.
- Experience overseeing both self-performed crews and subcontractors.
