Role Description The Financial Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Alberta, Canada, responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities for Sunset Recycle & Sales. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring accurate month-end and year-end closings. The role also involves creating and analyzing financial reports, monitoring budgets and cash flow, and supporting leadership with financial forecasts and performance insights.
The Financial
Controller will implement and maintain internal controls, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations,
and collaborate with operations and management to support strategic decision-making. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with external auditors, optimizing financial processes, and contributing to continuous improvement in financial systems and reporting. Qualifications
Strong accounting foundations, including experience with Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.
Solid background in Finance, with demonstrated Analytical Skills for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Hands-on expertise in Accounting operations, including general ledger management and period-end closing.
Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Ability to work on-site in Alberta, Canada, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize in a rapid-paced environment.
