Job Summary

We are a busy custom millwork shop in Sault Ste. Marie seeking an autonomous, highly experienced Finish Carpenter to join our shop floor immediately. Due to demanding production pipeline, this is not an entry-level or trainee position. We require a skilled professional who can read architectural drawings, operate industrial shop machinery safely, and execute flawless fabrication and assembly with zero supervision from day one.

Responsibilities

- Autonomous Fabrication: Read and interpret complex millwork blueprints, cut lists, and shop drawings to execute custom residential and commercial projects independently.

- Machinery Operation: Safely and precisely operate all standard industrial shop equipment, including slide table saws, edgebanders, shapers, jointer/planers, and standard pneumatic assembly tools.

- Assembly & Joinery: Perform high-level dowel, pocket-hole, and dado joinery. Assemble complex cabinet boxes, face frames, architectural panels, and custom trim components to tight millwork tolerances.

- Material Management: Select, mill and prep various hardwood and softwood species, veneers, MDF, and laminates, maximizing material yield and minimizing shop waste.

- Quality Control: Inspect finished components for squareness, structural integrity,



and flawless surface finish before passing items to the finishing or shipping department.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience working directly inside a commercial millwork.

- Flawless ability to read shop drawings, architectural plans, and architectural cut lists without oversight.

- High-level mastery of both metric and imperial measurements.

- Proven ability to manage a production build independently from raw sheet goods to a fully assembled product.

- Deep understanding of industrial shop safety protocols and proper machine guarding.

Asset Qualifications (Not required, but highly valued):

- CNC Operation: Prior experience setting up, loading, or operating a CNC router (G-code, AlphaCAM, or proprietary shop software).

- Finishing: Experience with spray-booth operations (lacquers, stains, post- catalyzed finishes).
