Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and comprehensive fire sprinkler system designs that ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency across various construction projects. Your expertise will help bring innovative fire protection solutions to life, supporting our mission to safeguard communities and properties.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors while utilizing cutting-edge design software to develop accurate schematics and layouts.

Duties

- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs using AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and design requirements.
- Prepare accurate sprinkler layouts, shop drawings, permit drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Review and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and reflected ceiling plans to develop coordinated sprinkler system designs.
- Coordinate sprinkler layouts with other building systems and disciplines to identify and resolve design conflicts.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and related design calculations when required.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA standards, Ontario Building Code (OBC), and project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and field personnel throughout the design and construction process.
- Revise drawings based on site conditions, coordination requirements, and project changes.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify existing conditions, confirm design accuracy, and support installation.
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions, design records,



and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of fire sprinkler design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience preparing fire sprinkler shop drawings
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Knowledge of NFPA standards and Ontario Building Code
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred

- Experience with HydraCAD and HydraCALC
- Revit/BIM experience
- Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field
- Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, or multi-residential projects
