Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated First Nation Manager to lead and support our community engagement initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster robust relationships, oversee project implementation, and champion the development of programs that benefit our community. As a key leader, you will coordinate efforts across various teams, ensuring alignment with community priorities and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate annual work plans at the annual staff retreats for programs that fall under the First Nation Manager;
- Recommend training programs pertaining to policies and procedures, staff development; short and long term planning of programs and services, and any other training as required and identified;
- Ensure the various programs within the First Nation remain viable and efficient by scheduling the available resources throughout the fiscal year, advising staff on the financial administration of their programs and ensuring an open line of communication is maintained;
- Collaborate with Finance and prepare budgets for Chief and Council’s review and approval, prior to the start of the new fiscal year;
- Present periodic financial statements outlining revenues and expenditures for all programs and operations, as well as forecasts for balance of fiscal year;
- Ensure that all required documentation and reports for all agencies,



organizations and government departments are prepared on a timely basis;
- Advise and submit recommendations to Chief and Council to ensure the efficient operation of the First Nation;
- Communicate as needed with representatives of agencies, organizations, and governments;
- Carry out Council directives and resolutions;

Requirements

- Extensive financial management experience;
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or related degree, or five (5) years equivalent experience;
- Extensive management experience with First Nation Government and Native Organizations;
- Knowledge of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation;
- Knowledge of First Nation Government structures, native cultures, and lifestyles;
- Knowledge of Federal/Provincial Government programs, policies and procedures affecting First Nations’
- Interpret and analyse developments in programs, policy changes, and provide recommendations to Chief and Council;
- Maintain accurate and up to date knowledge of government services and other organization regulations, policies announcements of new programs which will affect the First Nation.
