Front of House Customer Service — Full Time

Overview The Happy Baker is a scratch bakery, cafe, and catering operation that's been part of Fredericton for over 20 years. Everything we sell is made by hand, without preservatives, in the same kitchens that supply our catering clients and other Bella Hospitality Group restaurants around the city. We're hiring a full time Front of House Team Member for our Dundonald St location. This role is central to how guests experience The Happy Baker: serving fresh, handmade food at the counter, running the register, and keeping the cafe floor clean and welcoming during a busy shift. Previous food service experience helps, but it isn't required. Training is provided.

Responsibilities

- Greet and serve guests at the counter and register
- Take orders accurately using our POS system and process cash and card transactions correctly
- Prepare and serve coffee, cafe orders, and grab-and-go items
- Handle our bread, pastries, and cakes with care, following proper food handling and sanitation standards
- Answer questions about our menu and help guests find what they're looking for
- Keep the front of house, tables, and service stations clean and stocked throughout the shift




- Handle guest questions or concerns promptly and professionally
- Support the bakery team with basic tasks when needed
- Manage multiple guests efficiently during busy periods
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols

Experience

- Previous food service or bakery/cafe experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Familiarity with POS systems is an asset
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage guests professionally
- Basic math skills for handling cash accurately
- Comfort with food handling, sanitation, and food safety standards
- Ability to manage time effectively during busy periods while keeping attention to detail

Availability This is a full-time position. You must be able to work:

- 6 to 8 hour shifts
- All 7 days of the week
- Within our store hours of 6am to 9pm

Pay: $15.90-$18.50 per hour
