About the Role:
We are looking for a Road Forklift Mechanic to join our growing team in Peterborough, Ontario. This is a dynamic role where you will have the opportunity to work independently, maintain solid customer relationships, and apply your mechanical expertise to a variety of service calls. You will be provided with a company van, fuel card, phone, and tablet to assist you in delivering exceptional service in the field.
As a Road Technician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, on-site mechanical services to your assigned customers. You will manage a list of clients, maintain their equipment, and handle service calls as they come in from our office. Your ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of equipment, as well as interact professionally with customers, will be key to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance for a variety of mechanical equipment ( forklifts and lifts for different industries) and vehicles.
- Respond to service calls from the office and independently travel to customer locations in your assigned territory.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with customers, providing exceptional customer service in the field.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with your client base by offering personalized service and proactive maintenance.
- Keep accurate records of service calls, repair details, parts used, and work performed through the company tablet and phone.
- Work efficiently and independently to manage your daily schedule and prioritize urgent service calls.
- Maintain the service vehicle (van) and inventory of tools and parts, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed while working in the field and at client locations.
- Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements to clients based on your assessments.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4-5 years of hands-on mechanical experience (ideally in automotive, industrial, or equipment repair).
- Technical Skills: Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of mechanical systems.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with customers in a professional, friendly, and approachable manner.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and efficiently in the field, managing your schedule and customer relationships.
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required as you will be driving a company van.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make decisions on the spot while working on service calls.
- Tools and Technology: Comfortable using a tablet and phone for tracking work, managing service calls, and completing administrative tasks. Basic knowledge of field service software is a plus.
