Help Build the Funding Foundation Behind a Growing Youth Movement

Beyond the Court Inc. is a growing community-based not-for-profit organization committed to empowering youth and families across the Greater Toronto Area, particularly those experiencing systemic barriers, poverty, social isolation, violence, and limited access to opportunity.

Through mentorship, basketball and recreation, motivational speaking, life-skills development, leadership, employment readiness, community outreach, and youth-focused initiatives, Beyond the Court uses sport and relationships as a gateway to opportunity.

We are growing—and the need for our services is growing with us.

We are now looking for a passionate, strategic, and experienced fundraising qualified to join us as our Founding Philanthropy & Fundraising Partner.

This Is More Than a Volunteer Position.

This is an opportunity to help shape the financial future of an emerging organization with a growing presence in the community.

We are looking for someone who understands that great programs need great funding behind them—and who wants to use their expertise, relationships, creativity, and fundraising knowledge to help build something with lasting impact.

As our Founding Philanthropy & Fundraising Partner, you will work directly with Beyond the Court's leadership to establish and grow our fundraising infrastructure, identify funding opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and help position the organization for long-term sustainability.

The Current Reality

As an emerging organization, Beyond the Court does not currently have dedicated funding available to compensate this position.

This is therefore initially a volunteer leadership opportunity.

Our goal, however, is to secure sustainable organizational funding and transition this position into a paid role as funding becomes available, with compensation to be determined based on experience, responsibilities, organizational capacity, and available funding.

We believe in being transparent about where we are—and equally transparent about where we are going.

What You'll DoFundraising Strategy

- Develop and help implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy
- Establish short-, medium-, and long-term fundraising priorities
- Develop and maintain a strategic funding pipeline




- Identify opportunities to diversify BTC's revenue sources
- Recommend fundraising priorities and opportunities to organizational leadership

Grants & Philanthropy
- Research government, foundation, corporate, and philanthropic funding opportunities
- Identify funders whose priorities align with BTC's mission and programs
- Develop compelling grant applications and letters of inquiry
- Assist with proposals, budgets, impact statements, and funding requests
- Track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and funding outcomes
- Help develop strategies for multi-year and sustainable funding

Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorship
- Identify potential corporate partners and sponsors
- Develop sponsorship opportunities and partnership packages
- Research corporate giving programs and community investment initiatives
- Cultivate relationships with corporate decision-makers
- Help create mutually beneficial partnerships between BTC and the private sector

Relationship Building
- Develop relationships with foundations, philanthropists, corporations, community organizations, and other potential supporters
- Support donor cultivation and stewardship
- Help establish a network of individuals and organizations invested in BTC's mission
- Represent BTC professionally when engaging potential funders and partners

Impact & Storytelling Work closely with BTC leadership and program staff to translate the organization's work into compelling funding narratives.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings both fundraising expertise and a builder's mindset.

You may be a

- Nonprofit fundraising professional
- Grant writer
- Philanthropy professional
- Corporate partnerships specialist

- Experienced nonprofit leader
- Retired or semi-retired fundraising executive looking to give back

Ideally, You Bring:
- Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, grant development, or resource development
- Experience researching and developing successful funding opportunities
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian nonprofit funding landscape
- Exceptional grant and proposal-writing abilities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinking and entrepreneurial initiative
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational and project-management skills
- Experience developing budgets and funding proposals
- A genuine commitment to youth, community development, and social impact

About Beyond the Court

Beyond the Court is more than basketball.

Basketball is often where the relationship begins.

From there, we create opportunities for mentorship, confidence-building, leadership, education, employment readiness, personal development, and community connection.

We work with youth who may be navigating significant barriers and provide them with positive role models, meaningful relationships, practical resources, and opportunities to see a different future for themselves.

Our programs are designed to meet youth where they are—and help them discover where they can go.

As our reach expands, we're seeing increasing demand from youth, families, community organizations, housing communities, and other partners who recognize the value of what we do.

Now we need to build the financial foundation that allows us to meet that demand.
