Lead Upholsterer / Upholstery Production Lead

SIXTREND is a growing custom furniture company, and we’re looking for an experienced Lead Upholsterer to join our production team. This is an on-site position at our North York facility.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on upholstery skills, experience creating and modifying patterns, and a thorough understanding of the full upholstery production process. In addition to completing upholstery work, the Lead Upholsterer will help maintain quality standards, support production planning, and train and guide other members of the upholstery team.

What you’ll do

- Lead and support the day-to-day work of the production team
- Train new and existing team members on upholstery techniques, production procedures, quality standards, and safe work practices
- Create, modify, and maintain patterns for custom furniture pieces
- Accurately interpret drawings, measurements, specifications, patterns, and production instructions
- Upholster furniture frames using foam, fibre, batting, fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials
- Oversee the upholstery process from pattern development and material preparation through to final installation and finishing
- Inspect completed work and provide guidance or corrections to ensure quality and consistency
- Help establish efficient production methods and identify opportunities to improve workflow
- Communicate with the production team regarding priorities, timelines, material requirements, and project updates
- Troubleshoot upholstery, pattern, fit, and construction issues as they arise
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area

What we’re looking for




- At least 5 years of professional furniture upholstery experience, preferably in custom furniture production
- Strong patternmaking, pattern modification, fabric cutting, sewing, and upholstery skills
- A solid understanding of the complete upholstery production process, including frame preparation, foam and fibre application, pattern development, cutting, sewing, fitting, upholstery, and finishing
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or leading other upholsterers or production team members is preferred
- Ability to assess workmanship and maintain consistent quality standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented production environment
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality craftsmanship
- Willingness to ask questions, share knowledge, and continuously improve processes
