The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the day-to-day operational and financial performance of Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar and The Leaf Coffee Bar. The GM leads a profitable, guest-focused operation that achieves revenue targets, manages labour and cost of goods, maintains high food and service standards, and complies with all applicable health, safety and liquor regulations.

Working closely with Finance, Human Resources, Health & Safety, Operations, Marketing and Sales, the GM develops and implements strategies that grow restaurant revenue and enhance the guest experience. The GM also partners with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership on menu planning, pricing, product quality and operational efficiency.

The GM creates an inclusive, respectful and collaborative workplace. This position leads and develops the restaurant management team and oversees the recruitment, training, scheduling, coaching and performance of front-of-house and back-of-house employees. The GM ensures every team member is equipped to deliver thoughtful service and memorable experiences that reflect the unique setting, biomes and gardens of The Leaf.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations and Guest Experience

- Lead the overall operational and financial performance of Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar and The Leaf Coffee Bar.
- Deliver warm, attentive service while demonstrating ownership of the concepts and their unique purpose.
- Develop annual budgets, revenue forecasts and operating expense plans, including labour, cost of goods, equipment and supplies.
- Monitor sales, labour, pricing, inventory and cost of goods to achieve budgeted targets.
- Review operational performance and report results against business plans and objectives.
- Develop and implement revenue-generating ideas that enhance the dining experience.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales on promotions, campaigns, signage, menu boards and other revenue opportunities.
- Coordinate with Park Hospitality and Assiniboine Park Conservancy departments to maximize revenue, manage expenses and deliver high-quality experiences.
- Work with the Executive Chef and hospitality leadership to review menus, pricing and product offerings.
- Assist with menu planning and the implementation of current food, beverage and hospitality trends.
- Ensure food and beverage products are prepared, presented and served efficiently and to established quality standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory, ordering, receiving, storage and reporting processes.
- Ensure adequate inventory and supply levels while minimizing waste.
- Oversee cash reconciliation, tip-outs, payments and other financial control procedures.
- Adjust staffing levels in response to business demands and sales fluctuations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback, requests and escalated concerns.
- Support goodwill ambassador volunteers working on site.

Standards, Safety and Compliance

- Maintain current standard operating procedures, operational manuals,



secure work practices and training materials.
- Ensure employees understand and follow all Park Hospitality policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with Manitoba Health, Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba and workplace safety requirements.
- Ensure restaurant, coffee bar, storage and refrigeration areas are clean, organized, secure and properly stocked.
- Ensure food is stored and rotated according to food safety and freshness standards.
- Coordinate equipment inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs with Facilities and external contractors.
- Ensure maintenance requests, incident reports and incident investigations are completed accurately and promptly.
- Oversee deliveries to ensure products are received, stored and secured according to culinary and regulatory standards.

Financial Management

- Manage operating budgets and maintain effective financial controls.
- Ensure responsible management of expenditures, procurement and revenue.
- Complete and document month-end and periodic inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Review financial reports, identify variances and implement appropriate expense controls.
- Verify invoices and maintain accurate financial and inventory records.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and strong financial and business acumen while maintaining brand and guest satisfaction standards.
- Support relevant funding or partnership opportunities that further organizational objectives, when required.

Leadership and Human Resources

- Provide direct leadership and supervision to the Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar and The Leaf Coffee Bar teams.
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach and develop front-of-house and back-of-house employees.
- Communicate Park Hospitality’s mission, vision, values and business priorities.
- Build a cohesive, respectful and inclusive team committed to service excellence.
- Approve schedules, vacation requests, leaves and other employee documentation.
- Review and approve payroll information, ensuring submissions are accurate and timely.
- Ensure new employees complete orientation, role-specific training and required safety training.
- Identify training needs and create development plans that strengthen technical and behavioural competencies.
- Conduct regular coaching conversations and annual performance evaluations that recognize achievements and establish development goals.
- Hold regular staff and shift meetings to communicate restaurant priorities, operational updates and upcoming events.
- Address workplace concerns and support constructive conflict resolution.




- Work with Human Resources and senior leadership on employee relations and progressive discipline matters when required.
- Promote equity, diversity, inclusion and a respectful workplace.

Education, Certifications and Requirements

- Diploma or certificate in hospitality or restaurant management preferred. A bachelor’s degree is considered an asset.
- Valid Safe Food Handling and Smart Choices certifications.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Five or more years of restaurant or concession management experience in a guest-focused environment.
- Eight or more years of supervisory experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Experience recruiting, training, coaching and developing food and beverage teams.
- Demonstrated experience creating budgets, revenue forecasts and operating expense plans.
- Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, food trends and coffee bar operations.
- Experience transforming current and emerging food and beverage trends into marketable products.
- Experience in a fast-paced, contemporary food service environment.
- Knowledge of restaurant point-of-sale, inventory, reservation and guest loyalty systems.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and food and beverage software.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
