A central element of this transformation is the launch of the GridBeats™ Product Line, dedicated to delivering software-defined automation solutions. This initiative integrates advanced technologies and develops distinctive product platforms to address evolving market demands.
As part of the Global Engineering organization, we are seeking a passionate and highly experienced Power Systems expert to lead the GridBeats™ R&D; Protection and Control Engineering team. The GridBeats™ R&D; Protection and Control Engineering Leader will report directly to the GridBeats™ R&D; and Operations Leader. Build and guide a team of highly skilled protection and control engineers with expertise in all areas of protection algorithms, filter design, and renewable integration.
Inspire and foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team. Oversee the full project lifecycle for protection and control system, feature design, specification, simulation, modeling, implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational processes and procedures. Champion the adoption of current technologies, such as communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850) for digital substation to enhance grid automation and protection.
Technical
Expertise and Management Possess a deep technical understanding of protection algorithms, automation, and control system design,
including fault analysis and system stability. Working knowledge of RTDS and its application in hardware-in-the-loop testing of protection and control systems. Demonstrate strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Develop and manage the team's budget, resource planning, and performance metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration of protection and control functionalities within the overall equipment design. Stay abreast of industry standards and trends, technologies, and best practices in power system protection and control.
Represent the organization at industry conferences and technical forums.
Experience working with utilities on protection and control system design and implementation. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; master’s degree a plus. ~10+ years of experience in power system protection and control engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. ~ Proven record of writing and presenting papers at industry conferences ~ Experience with industry standards and regulations related to power system protection and control. ~ Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical audiences. For Canadian based positions, the pay range for this position is between $126,000 – $176,000 CAD Annual.
Eligible for discretionary annual bonus .
