[What the role is]

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

The role as a GIS Data Content Improvement, who is responsible for enhancing the quality, accuracy, and usability of geospatial datasets.

[What you will be working on]

Geospatial Application Development and Configuration – Support the development and configuration of geospatial applications and solutions using SLA's geospatial platforms and software. Assist in building user-friendly applications that address business needs while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard GIS technologies.

Geospatial Data Analysis and Project Support – Assist in geospatial analytics, data processing, data conversion and solution implementation for projects across the Healthcare, Social, Community sectors and Government Agencies. Learn how spatial data can be applied to support decision-making and improve operational workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Gathering – Work with the team to understand users' business requirements and translate them into geospatial solutions.



Support discussions with stakeholders and learn to communicate geospatial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Training and Programme Support – Assist in the planning and delivery of geospatial training programmes, workshops and user engagement sessions. Support the preparation of training materials and provide assistance during training activities

[What we are looking for]

- Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Science (GIS), Geospatial, Computer Science, Data Science, or other related disciplines.
- Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial concepts.
- Familiarity with geospatial software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online or QGIS.
- Basic knowledge of Python and/or R programming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to different project requirements.
- Detail-oriented with positive organisational skills.
- Interest in using geospatial technologies to solve real-world challenges and improve public services.
- Experience gained through university projects, internships or coursework involving GIS, programming or data analytics is an advantage but not required.
