School Age Care 1:1 Support Leader Parkgate Society North Vancouver, BCOpportunity:We are seeking a compassionate and experienced School-Age Care Support Leader to provide full-time 1:1 support for a kindergarten-aged child with Down syndrome, unilateral hearing loss, and mobility needs. The role focuses on safety, inclusion, communication support, and participation in all Spring camp day and play activities.Contract Dates: Spring break: March 16 – 27, 2026; 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day. Hourly Rate: $21.50 plus 6% in lieu of paid time offKey Responsibilities:Provide constant supervision during transitions, lunch, playground, drop off and pick up.Support inclusion in group dynamic, indoor and outdoor activities and play.Assist with mobility and balance, including stairs and uneven surfaces.Support toileting, dressing, and mealtime routines with dignity.Use visual supports, routines, and positive language to support transitions and attention. Implement recommended hearing and communication strategies.Monitor fatigue and provide rest breaks as needed.Collaborate with leaders, therapists, and family in line with the SCDP care plan.Required Skills and Experience:Experience supporting children with Down syndrome and/or complex developmental needs.Proven ability to provide 1:1 support in a school or early learning setting.Solid understanding of child safety, emotional regulation, and inclusive practice.Experience supporting children with mobility challenges and delayed self-care skills.Patient, gentle, calm approach; able to support sensitive and emotional children.Comfortable supporting toileting and personal care.Preferred would be someone with an Education Assistant work experience & education, Child & Youth Care (CYC),
or related training.Experience with visual schedules and communication supports.Current Emergency First Aid with CPR certificate (min. 8-hour course).A clear Criminal Records check for Vulnerable Persons.Eligible to work in Canada.Minimum 19 years of age.The School Age Care Support Leader is responsible for providing 1:1 support for individual children, with the following, but not limited to:Works closely with a child who needs extra support to ensure a successful Spring Break camp experience, including guiding the child's behaviour and encouraging/assisting the child to participate in activities to the best of their ability.Develops, engages and implements developmentally appropriate activities and experiences.Works with Supported Child Development to acquire resources as needed/beneficial.Completes Monthly Report sheets.Reviews and implements Care Plans for children.Ensures the child's environment is healthy and safe at all times.Ensures positive communication with children, family members, caregivers and others.Contributes to the ongoing operation of the Spring Break camp.Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Program Manager as assigned.About Parkgate Community Services Society:Parkgate Community Services Society is a registered,
