Junior School Teacher – temporary

Assignment

French Immersion, Career Education (Grades 8-9). The position involves teaching several subjects to the French Immersion class, including FRAL, PE, Careers, and Sciences Humaines or Science. Core French 8 and 9 blocks are also taught. Each morning starts with a 20‑minute advisory block with a smaller group of students.

- FTE: 1.0
- Location: Quesnel Junior School
- Effective Dates: Commencing May 27, 2026 until June 30, 2026, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of reduction in FTE.

Basic Qualifications

- Valid BC Teaching Certificate and member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Training Specialization: Secondary Education with major/minor in French Immersion.
- Related Teaching Experience: recent experience teaching at the junior school level.

A reasonable expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience,



that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other qualified staff.

Additional Qualifications

- Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in French Immersion.
- Fluency in English and French – oral and written.
- Applicant willing to take a language proficiency test – oral and written.

Other

- Commitment to the house‑based team structure.
- Fluent English and French speaker.
- Portion of interview conducted in French.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting annual salary for the full‑time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
