Position Summary The Heavy Duty / Locomotive Mechanic is a hands-on mechanical position responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining MobilGrain's locomotives, heavy equipment, rail maintenance equipment, and commercial vehicles. Working closely with Operations and Mechanical leadership, the successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems, respond to equipment breakdowns, and help ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while supporting day-to-day railway operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives and railway equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, braking systems, hydraulic systems,



and electrical systems.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment used in railway and grain operations.
- Complete mechanical inspections and identify required repairs.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures.
- Perform welding and light fabrication as required.
- Complete service documentation and maintenance records.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs.
- Travel to company facilities and field locations as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Promote and follow safe work practices while complying with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician preferred. Red Seal certification considered a strong asset.
- Experience maintaining diesel engines, and off road heavy equipment.
- Experience working on locomotives, railway equipment, or commercial trucks considered a strong asset.
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Class 1A Driver's Licence considered an asset.

Work Schedule

- Full-time, permanent position based in Delisle, Saskatchewan.
- Monday to Friday schedule with overtime available based on operational requirements.
- Weekend work and emergency callouts as required.
- Travel to company facilities and field locations throughout Saskatchewan.
- Overnight travel may occasionally be required.
