Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, the qualified candidate will be be reporting to the Ground Services Equipment Manager working to diagnose, service, and repair all ground service equipment. This individual ensures maintenance actions or repairs are completed in a timely manor while adhering to applicable safety protocols, OEM recommendations and applicable standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely responses to customer and equipment service requests.
- GSE Equipment, Fuel Truck and Fleet Vehicle maintenance. (Monthly/PMs/Breakdown Repairs/Periodic Inspections/Preventative Maintenance).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed repairs and/or replacement(s).
- Perform checks and inspections on equipment.
- Provide details for and aid in quotations for various repair or maintenance requests related to customer’s equipment.
- Communicate with customers as to the status of or options pertaining to their equipment repairs.
- Able to communicate effectively with factory representatives and suppliers.
- Read and interpret diagnostic trouble codes, service and maintenance manuals or bulletins, and relevant specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and other relevant diagrams.
- Provide and document work order details and information.
- Safely conduct tests on vehicles after maintenance is performed.
- Update company and customer records or maintenance information systems.
- Ensure proper safety precautions are observed and respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Assist in the inventory control of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinate/complete equipment repairs as needed or requested.
- Coordinate with necessary personnel or customers for work approvals and purchase order issuance.
- Coordinate with administration and other key people for the purpose of completing projects/work orders timely and efficiently.
- Maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of the customer’s equipment and it remains in safe operating condition.
- Work with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and contractors as required.
- Work within the parameters of the maintenance budget.
- Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to research and enter data on a computer.
- Able to work extended hours on short notice and during non-routine operations.
- Some travel may be required.
- Maintain a respectable, tidy, and orderly work area while contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
- Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required.
Experience and Qualifications
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Technician.
- Minimum two years of work experience as a certified heavy equipment technician.
- Adequate set of mechanical tools.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean abstract.
- Able to obtain an airport security clearance.
- Able to lift 32 kg in confined spaces.
- Able to lift heavy objects over head for extended periods of time.
- Able to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time.
- Exhibit good teamwork skills with the ability to maintain positive and respectful interactions with others.
- Good written and verbal communication skills as well as valuable reading comprehension.
- Must be computer literate and have experience with Microsoft programs.
- Dedicated to getting the job done in a timely fashion while meeting established standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Professional, punctual, meticulous and diligent.

- Experience with GSE or aviation equipment is considered an asset.
