Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic role is a full time, on-site position based in Montreal, QC. The mechanic will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment, focusing on engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and driveline components. Daily tasks include conducting inspections, identifying mechanical issues, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, and documenting all work performed in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.
The role involves using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment, collaborating with service advisors and other technicians, and supporting emergency repair needs when required. The mechanic is expected to maintain a clean, safe work environment and contribute to efficient turnaround times for customer vehicles.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Proficiency in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment servicing, including engines, hydraulics, and structural components.
- Effective Troubleshooting abilities for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools.
- Relevant technical training or certification in heavy-duty mechanics, diesel technology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a commercial vehicle, fleet, or garage environment, with knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and to complete accurate service documentation.
- Physical ability to work with heavy components, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks in various workshop conditions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial or CDL/Classe 1 or 3 license is an asset.
- Comfort working occasional extended hours or supporting roadside/emergency repairs when needed.
