PART TIME DRAMA TEACHER – GRADES 7–9

Webtree Academy is currently looking for a passionate and experienced Drama Teacher to teach Grade 7–9 students in a small-class teaching and learning environment.

Webtree Academy is a Ministry of Education-inspected private school located in North York. We are dedicated to providing students with diversified programs that support their individual academic needs, personal development, and future goals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for both our Grade 9 Drama credit course (ADA1O) and our Grade 7 & 8 After-School Drama Club.

Teaching Schedule:

Grade 9 Drama – ADA1O

- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- 2:40 p.m. – 3:40 p.m.
- 3 classes per week
- 1 hour per class
- Throughout the school year

Grade 7 & 8 After-School Drama Club

- 1 Session per Week, 1 hour per class
- Throughout the school year
- 3:50 p.m. – 4:50 p.m. on one selected weekday, to be determined.

Qualifications

- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) preferred; however, candidates with strong teaching experience and an excellent teaching approach will also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum.
- Previous experience teaching Drama, Theatre Arts, Performing Arts, or related subjects.
- Experience teaching middle school and/or secondary school students is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of drama techniques, including improvisation, role play, movement, voice, character development, script work, and performance.
- Ability to create engaging, interactive, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Enthusiastic, positive, creative, and highly responsible.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students with different learning abilities and levels of confidence.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.




- Passionate about working with adolescents and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
- Teach the Ontario Grade 9 Drama curriculum at a high level.
- Plan and deliver engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate Drama lessons.
- Organize and facilitate the Grade 7 & 8 After-School Drama Club.
- Introduce students to a variety of dramatic forms, techniques, and performance skills.
- Encourage creativity, collaboration, confidence, communication, and self-expression.
- Assess and identify students’ individual learning needs.
- Prepare and assess assignments, performances, projects, and other course work.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school administration.
- Evaluate and document student progress in accordance with school and Ontario Ministry of Education requirements.
- Year-End Performance: The teacher will be responsible for preparing students for a year-end theatrical performance involving a mixed cast of Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 9 students. The teacher will guide students through the full production process, including selecting or adapting a suitable play, auditions and casting, rehearsals, character development, staging, and final performance preparation.

Compensation: Up to $40 per hour, depending on qualifications and teaching experience.
