Job Summary &

Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) is embarking on a significant transformation through the development of a new hospital scheduled for occupancy in 2028. This opportunity will redefine how care is delivered, enhance patient and staff experiences, and create a modern environment that supports exceptional healthcare for our growing communities.

Reporting to the Vice President &

- Chief Nursing Executive, the Hospital Redevelopment Clinical Lead will serve as the primary clinical liaison between clinical programs and the redevelopment project team, ensuring that operational readiness activities support safe, efficient, patient-centered care in the future-state hospital.

The Hospital Redevelopment Clinical Lead will coordinate clinical engagement, lead operational readiness planning, support workflow redesign, facilitate change management activities, and ensure that design, activation, and transition plans align with the needs of patients, families, credentialed staff, staff, and volunteers. Working closely with leaders, frontline teams, project team, consultants, and construction partners, the incumbent will help prepare the organization for successful readiness and occupancy of the new facility in 2028.

Success in this role requires exceptional project management, change leadership, engagement, and relationship-building skills, combined with a strong understanding of hospital operations and clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Readiness Leadership

- Lead the development and execution of SMH’s operational readiness plan for redevelopment and move-in planning.
- Coordinate readiness activities across clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure preparedness for transition to the new facility.
- Develop and maintain operational readiness workplans, milestones, risk registers, issue logs, and reporting mechanisms.
- Ensure readiness plans align with project schedules, organizational priorities, legislative requirements, regulatory requirements, and accreditation expectations.
- Monitor readiness progress and identify barriers requiring escalation or mitigation.

Clinical Planning &

- Engagement

- Serve as the primary clinical point person between the redevelopment project team and hospital operational leaders.
- Facilitate clinical user group meetings, issue resolution processes, and decision-making related to future-state operations.




- Coordinate clinical input related to workflow design, equipment planning, operational policies, patient flow, and models of care.
- Ensure clinical requirements are accurately translated into operational, activation, and transition plans.
- Support validation of operational decisions through clinical workflow reviews, mock-ups, simulations, and readiness exercises.

Change Management &

- Transformation

- Lead change management strategies that support adoption of new workflows, spaces, technologies, equipment, and models of care.
- Develop engagement and communication plans that foster awareness, readiness, and commitment throughout the organization.
- Assess organizational impacts and develop mitigation strategies to support successful transitions.
- Support leaders in preparing teams for change through education, coaching, communication, and engagement activities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, adaptability, and people-centred care.

Transition, Activation &

- Move Planning

- Support development of comprehensive activation and move plans for departments and programs.
- Coordinate tabletop exercises, department-level readiness reviews, mock scenarios, simulations, and move rehearsals.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams to identify operational risks, dependencies, and contingency plans.
- Support planning for occupancy, stabilization, and post-move optimization activities.
- Participate in command centre planning and move execution activities during activation.

Project Management &

- Collaboration

- Lead multiple operational readiness initiatives simultaneously while managing competing priorities and timelines.
- Establish project structures, governance processes, milestone tracking, documentation standards, and reporting frameworks.
- Prepare executive updates, presentations, briefing notes, meeting materials, and status reports for leadership and governance committees.
- Collaborate with consultants, architects, construction partners, external advisors, Directors, Managers, Professional Practice, Quality &
- Risk, Information Technology, Facilities, Human Resources, Infection Prevention and Control, and Redevelopment teams.
- Build strong relationships across clinical programs, corporate services, physicians, staff, volunteers, patients and families, and community partners.

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Administration, Healthcare Management, or related discipline required.
- Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Healthcare Leadership, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field preferred.
- Current registration with a regulated health profession.
- Project Management, Lean, change management, and/or equivalent certification are assets.

Experience

- Minimum five (5) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience within an acute care hospital environment.




- Demonstrated experience leading complex organizational initiatives, projects, or healthcare transformation programs.
- Experience with hospital redevelopment, operational readiness, facility planning, clinical workflow redesign, or large-scale change initiatives considered a strong asset.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and engaging individuals at all organizational levels.

Knowledge, Skills &

- Abilities

- Strong project management skills with experience developing and managing complex workplans, timelines, deliverables, risks, and dependencies.
- Demonstrated expertise in organizational change management principles, engagement, and readiness planning.
- Robust understanding of hospital operations, patient flow, clinical workflows, and healthcare service delivery.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention and control, and accreditation standards.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, briefing, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and support leaders and teams through organizational transformation.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and relationship-building abilities.

Hours of Work Monday to Friday. Weekend work may be required as operational needs dictate. As a leader at SMH, participation in the leadership on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends, is required.
