Job Title: Housing Support Mentor
Description: Oshki-Giizhig is an Indigenous-based non-profit organization. our vision is a healthy community built on indigenous journeys towards wellness. Our mission is to walk beside, advocate and support people affected by FASD and or other disorders. Strengthened by cultural practices and traditional teachings, support will assist in restoring balance to individuals and the community affected by trauma and violence.
Qualifications:Post-secondary education in social work, social justice, Indigenous studies, health related and/or a combination of pertinent experiences in these areas. Experiences with cultural activities and understanding of indigenous concepts of care and support. Knowledge of disabilities, disorders and mental health issues. Driver’s License and access to transportation. Applicants must have MPI 2 million liability insurance.
Responsibilities: Providing direct service to program participants in a home includes: maintaining connections and healthy relationships, securing and maintaining safe housing, acquiring income and assisting with finances, navigating justice system, transport and environmental accommodations, assisting with medical and treatment regiments, supporting reconciliation when conflicts arise,
