Position Overview

Progressive Training College is seeking an organized, dependable and people-focused HR Generalist Assistant to join our Human Resources team.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working across multiple areas of human resources and wants the opportunity to develop their skills in a broad HR environment. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers across PTC while assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, performance management, benefits, attendance and compliance.

The HR Generalist Assistant will work closely with the Director of Human Resources and will have the opportunity to take ownership of a variety of HR processes and projects.

This is a fully remote position, providing employees with flexibility and an emphasis on productivity, accountability and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Hiring

- Coordinate recruitment activities from job posting through onboarding.
- Prepare and post job advertisements on appropriate recruitment platforms.
- Review applications and conduct initial candidate screening.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate interview processes with hiring managers.




- Conduct reference checks and employment verification as required.
- Prepare employment offers, employment agreements and new hire documentation.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and candidate files.
- Assist with developing and improving recruitment processes.

Employee Onboarding and Offboarding

- Coordinate new employee onboarding and ensure all required documentation is completed.
- Create and maintain employee personnel files.
- Coordinate system access, training requirements and onboarding activities.
- Conduct or assist with current employee orientation.
- Process employee changes, transfers and status updates.
- Coordinate offboarding activities, including termination documentation, ROEs and final paperwork.

HR Administration

- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Maintain HR information in the organization's HRIS and other systems.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, letters and documentation.
- Assist with tracking employee attendance, vacation, leaves and other employee information.
- Maintain employee benefit records and assist employees with benefits-related questions.
- Assist with payroll-related HR administration and employee changes.




- Ensure HR files and documentation are maintained in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation.

Employee Relations

- Respond to employee questions and concerns and escalate matters to the Director of Human Resources when appropriate.
- Assist with employee relations investigations and documentation.
- Assist with preparing disciplinary documentation, performance improvement plans and other employee correspondence.
- Support managers with performance management processes.
- Help ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee information.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a generalist or HR administration capacity.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards and workplace legislation.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee records and HR administration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll or employee management systems is an asset.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and follow-through.

Pay: From $68,000.00 per year
