About the Position
Little Acres Learning Centre is seeking a caring, knowledgeable, and dedicated Inclusion Coordinator / Educational Assistant to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on, child-focused position. The primary responsibility is working directly with a child with diverse needs, providing individualized support to promote participation, learning, independence, communication, self-regulation, and positive relationships within the classroom.
The successful candidate will also serve as the centre’s Inclusion Coordinator, supporting educators with inclusive practices, strategies, resources, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Child-Specific EA – Primary Role
- Provide individualized support to a child with diverse needs throughout the classroom day
- Support participation in play, learning, routines, transitions, and social interactions
- Encourage independence, confidence, communication, and self-regulation
- Adapt activities and provide appropriate support based on individual needs
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child
- Observe and document relevant information and work closely with the classroom educator
- Promote the child’s dignity, independence, and inclusion within the classroom community Classroom & Inclusion Support
- Support classroom activities, routines, and inclusive learning environments
- Assist with adapting materials, activities, and environments when needed
- Encourage positive peer relationships and participation
- Follow the classroom educator’s direction regarding programming and daily classroom responsibilities
- Provide educators with practical inclusion strategies, resources, and support
- Assist with individualized support strategies, documentation, and inclusion funding when applicable
- Collaborate with families, educators, leadership,
and outside professionals as appropriate
- Promote strengths-based, inclusive practices throughout the centre
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum ECE Level II or Level III certification recognized in Saskatchewan, or equivalent education and experience
- Experience supporting children with diverse abilities or additional needs
- Knowledge of child development, play-based learning, and inclusive practices
- Strong communication, observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, educators, and professionals
- Professionalism, confidentiality, patience, and flexibility
