Key Responsibilities

- Conduct field quality inspections and surveillance activities for slurry piping systems and associated infrastructure.

- Verify work execution complies with:
- Approved engineering drawings.
- Construction specifications.
- Suncor procedures and standards.
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)
- Applicable regulatory requirements.

- Provide quality assurance surveillance for:
- Slurry piping spools installations.
- Piping spools repairs and RIK's.
- Welding and fabrication activities.
- Mechanical maintenance activities.
- Coating and lining applications.
- Hydrotesting and leak testing activities
- Integrity mitigation work scopes.

- Verify welding activities comply with approved WPS requirements and quality expectations.
- Witness and document critical inspection hold points and testing activities.
- Review contractor quality documentation, turnover packages, and inspection records.
- Identify, document, and communicate non-conformance issues and support corrective actions.
- NDE Support on Tailings, fixed plant and Mine areas when required.
- Support piping integrity initiatives including:

- Corrosion monitoring activities
- Thickness monitoring programs
- Inspection findings review
- Risk mitigation activities
- Defect tracking and repair verification

- Support failure investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.




- Promote a strong safety culture and quality mindset throughout all field activities.

Qualifications

- Journeyperson trade certification, engineering technology diploma, or related technical education.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Piping Inspection, QA/QC, Integrity, Maintenance, or construction within heavy industrial or oil sands operations.
- Inspection certification API 570 or 510 & CWB Welding Inspector Level I.
- NDE CGSB certifications level I UT and Level II MT/PT.
- Experience with:
- Pipeline systems
- Welding and fabrication
- Mechanical maintenance
- Integrity management processes

- Ability to interpret:

- P&IDs;
- Isometric drawings
- Welding procedures
- Engineering specifications
- Inspection reports

- Strong knowledge of quality assurance processes and field inspection practices.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and digital documentation systems.

Working Conditions

- Field-based role supporting active oil sands tailings operations
- Frequent travel throughout operating areas and field sites
- Exposure to varying environmental and weather conditions
- Extended hours may be required during outages, major maintenance events, and projects
