Intermediate Estimator

Penn-co Construction is a leading construction company currently hiring an Intermediate Estimator with general contracting estimating experience to join our team working at our Steinbach office.

As the Intermediate Estimator, you will play a key role in prepare accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of construction projects, with a robust focus on general contracting. You will be responsible for reviewing tender documents, developing trade scopes, completing quantity take-offs, soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and supplier pricing, and identifying scope gaps and project risks.

This position is ideal for an estimator who has developed a solid foundation in GC estimating and is ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to grow alongside an experience estimating team.

Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed, organized estimates for General Contracting, Construction Management, and Design-Build projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing.
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Prepare and quantify material take-offs.
- Participate in sub-contract procurement, such as qualifications and quotes, calling for tenders, preparation of RFP or RFQ.




- Collaborating with project teams to develop competitive and accurate proposals.
- Work with the Senior Estimator in preparing detailed reports or bids for management, clients, or project teams.

Qualifications

- Diploma in CET or an equivalent academic combination with practical experience.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, specifications and contract documents. With strong writing and graphic abilities.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
- Detail orientated, analytical, and ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Ability to communicate effectively with architects and trades.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
